Rising Young Women of Wind Energy
Freya ChayWith an idea to protect the environment by encouraging private investment in renewable energy, Freya Chay, a freshman at Kenai Central High School, claimed top honors in the 2010 Caring for the Kenai (CFK) competition. Freya's goal was to amend Alaska state tax code to allow local governments to exempt residential alternative energy systems, property tax assessment. She succeeded in getting the change included in SB 220, the Senate Omnibus Energy Bill, which passed during the 2010 session.
